Stipend Details

The monthly stipend will be paid to apprentices as per the rates prescribed in the Apprentices Act, 1961 and the rules made thereunder. The training period for all trades is one year.

Naval Dockyard Apprentice 2025 - Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • For ITI Trades (30 Trades): Candidates must have passed ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in the relevant trade.
  • For Non-ITI Crane Operator Trade: Candidates must have passed Std X (10th).
  • For Non-ITI Rigger Trade: Candidates must have passed Std VIII (8th).

Age Limit

  • As per the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, there is NO upper age restriction for apprenticeship training.
  • Minimum Age: 14 years for non-hazardous trades and 18 years for hazardous trades.

Note: While there is no upper age limit for training, candidates should be aware that an upper age limit will apply if they later seek permanent employment as a Tradesman Skilled in the Naval Dockyard.

Physical Standards

Candidates must meet the minimum physical fitness standards as specified in the Apprentices Rules, 1992.

As per the official notification, candidates are not required to pay any fee for the online application or the examination.

Naval Dockyard Apprentice 2025 - Selection Process

The selection is a multi-stage process and does not involve an interview.

  1. Preliminary Shortlisting (Merit List): A preliminary merit list will be prepared based on marks.
    • For ITI Trades: Based on aggregate percentage in 10th + ITI marks.
    • For Non-ITI Trades: Based on percentage in 8th or 10th class marks.
    Shortlisted candidates will be called for the written exam in a ratio of up to 1:20 for each vacancy.
  2. Written Examination: Shortlisted candidates will appear for an OMR-based written test in Mumbai.
  3. Final Merit List: A final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the written examination.
  4. Document Verification & Medical Examination: Candidates on the final merit list will be called for document verification and must submit a medical fitness certificate.
