A Strategic Guide to Cracking the IBPS Clerk Exam
The selection is a three-phase process where each phase tests a different skill.
Phase 1: Preliminary Exam (A Test of Speed and Accuracy)
This is a 60-minute screening test with sectional timings. The marks are not counted for the final merit, but you must clear both sectional and overall cut-offs. The key is to solve a maximum number of questions with high accuracy.
Phase 2: Main Exam (A Test of Knowledge and Strategy)
This is the most important stage. The final merit list is prepared based on the marks you score here. The General/Financial Awareness section is often the game-changer, as good preparation in this area can significantly boost your overall score.
Phase 3: Local Language Proficiency Test (The Final Check)
💡 Don't Take the Language Test Lightly!
This is a qualifying test, but it is mandatory. If you fail this test, you will be disqualified, even if you have topped the Main exam. You will be tested on your ability to read, write, and speak the local language of the state you applied for.
Exemption: You will be exempt from this test only if you can produce a 10th or 12th standard marksheet/certificate showing that you have studied the specified local language.
Remember: There is 1/4th negative marking in both Prelims and Mains.
